Veinte Pétalos es un documental independiente producido y dirigido por la casa productora Los Otros Puertos en colaboración con Guía Oca. El proyecto fue solicitado por Grupo Valle de los Ángeles en otoño del 2016.
Este documental explora las tradiciones del Día de Muertos, recorriendo los principales puntos de cultivo y distribución de la flor de cempazúchitl en los estados de Puebla, Oaxaca y Michoacán.
Cuenta la historia de la tradición y de las fiestas que rodean a la flor. Es un viaje a nuestros recuerdos.

Veinte Pétalos is an independent documentary film produced and directed by the production house Los Otros Puertos in collaboration with Guía Oca. The project was requested by Grupo Valle de los Ángeles, autumn 2016.
This film explores the traditions of Day of the Death, visiting the main growing and distribution points of the cempazúchitl flower in the states of Puebla, Oaxaca and Michoacán.
It tells the history of the tradition and celebrations surrounding the cempazúchitl flower. It is a trip to our memories.
El reto consistió en visibilizar la identidad del cortometraje; su historia y argumento. Esto fue posible a partir de la realización de un profundo análisis de la estructura narrativa y la generación de una serie de conceptos que fueron explorados para su representación.

The challenge consisted in making the identity of the film visible; its history and argument. This was possible through a deep narrative structure analysis and through the generation of a series of concepts that were explored for its representation.

El cartel tiene dos lecturas, por un lado, tradicionalmente se cree que los pétalos conservan el calor del sol e iluminan el camino de regreso a casa para los difuntos. Por otro, la colocación de los pétalos, representa el proceso narrativo del propio documental; el trayecto que recorre el equipo de producción para conocer la historia detrás de la flor en sus principales puntos de cultivo.

The poster has two readings, on one hand, it is traditionally believed that the petals retain the heat of the sun and illuminate the way back home for the departed. On the other hand, the placement of the petals represent the narrative process of the film itself; the route that the production team went through to know the history behind the flower in its main points of cultivation.
