The characters in the Fold Series (A-E) are victims of invisible extreme forces. They are being pulled, pressed and stretched into painful stress positions. The nature of the forces however is ambiguous. Certain joints and masses are pressed beyond their limits while neighboring body parts remain free and languid. The characters lean into their suffering helping the external forces that fold them.
