Commission piece for client in MPLS - themed for the eclipse that traversed our country last year. Mixed media using a combination of graphite, acrylic, oils, varnish, conte crayon. Frame is made from reclaimed cedar and is a two piece frame with gutter recessed between outside frame and image. The painting was done on reclaimed hollow-core door (wood not Masonite). Process involved reduction with radiant heat and direct fire application. Time to make counting dry times and reworks, roughly 2 weeks.
Bit of glare but its the best I can do right now. Finished work below. This was almost too much fun to make. I have some production pics I can upload too.
