People tend to connect ”Utopia” with the future. They think of things like a great technologycal evolution, a new world to come.

For me, Utopia has a different meaning. It is not something to be searched in the future, but in the present. Not something that could be found or ever achieved in the physical dimension, rather something that is a state of mind. It is the feeling of the calm before the storm, an idyllic moment of existence which you can feel but never truly reach.
In my photo series I aim to capture this feeling I connect with Utopia. The foil represents the human presence, it is also a symbol of a change.

In my opinion, the series itself creates a pleasant first impression, but when one observes the possible meanings, the unusual stillness becomes frustrating. It makes us search for a deeper understanding.  The possible approaches vary from person to person, but the original destiny remains the same; to provoke the viewers to feel the ”calm before the storm”. The feeling I connect with Utopia.
