Typical infusion solution method uses the gravity of liquid, so the amount of injection is not constant, and when the liquid is being injected,
movement of the patient is limited. Especially, on the outside, battlefield and other emergency cases, there are lots of cases where there is
no IV holder. In this case, one person should hold the container of the liquid on higher place. It is inconvenient, wastes human resource and even influences on the treatment. Also, in the method using gravity, it is highly likely to flow in outside air, so that it may contaminate the medical fluid.
In addition, as an appliance for treatment, stepping motor makes the temperature of the fluid adjustable, so that it can improve the health
of the patient and enhance treatment effect. Actually, when Ringer’s solution with much lower temperature than body temperature is used,
the injected site can be easily solidified or the patient complains of the pain. That is, the fluid with low temperature may decrease the
patient’s resistance and bring contraction of blood vessel.
To solve this problem, we suggest portable and intelligent transfusion device, replacing traditional gravity infusion solution into pressurizing
method with stepping motor, which can maintain the temperature as well as exactly identifying the amount and speed of infusion solution
and showing the numbers.

The existing intravenous injection method is called simple gravity dripping because it uses gravity.
This method controls the speed of  injected fluid in the container through microhole with drop chamber, and readjusts the speed as one wants with roller of controlling forceps.
Because it uses only gravity for maintaining the speed, the equipment is simple and the cost is low.
However, as certain time passed, the roller of controlling forceps may be loose because of the elasticity of injected tube, and if the patient
moves, or according to the height of the part with injection needle, the speed of injection becomes inaccurate.
Also, according to the type of intravenous injection fluid and the maker of injection set, there is difference in the amount of drops, so it is
hard to maintain constant injection speed, and since it is done manually, the accuracy is not guaranteed until trained up to certain level.
It has inconvenience that patient, protector of patient, and nurse should check it on regular time to supplement it.
Therefore, we suggest ‘PIVS (Portable IV System)’ which makes constant speed and temperature maintained at any site by using stepping
motor pushing it from the back.

As medical business develops, the demand of people on infusion solution on clinical testing is getting higher. For it, proper speed of infusion solution should be considered according to the condition of medicine and patient.
For example, when a diabetic gets insulin injection and a cancer patient gets chemical treatment, usually much drug is used.
However, by doing this, the drug is wasted and the effect of the drug becomes shorter.
Therefore, proper speed of injection is needed. Also, when injecting special drug like anesthetic, sodium nitroprusside, and TNP, the amount and the speed of injection should be accurately controlled. With general injecting method, since it observes the number of medicine drops with eyes and controls the speed with hand, accurate injecting speed cannot be grasped. When doing intravenous injection, if the speed is rapid, the patient can be poisoned, or, further, it may cause cardiac weakness.
Therefore, doctors and patients are desiring development of transfusion device that has smart, high performance and is convenient to use.
