24 August 2016 Earthquake

An earthquake, measuring 6.2 hit central Italy on 24 August 2016 at 03:36 AM.
2,100 people found shelter in the emergency camps. Approximately 4,400 people were involved in the search and rescue operations, including 70 teams with rescue dogs.
As of 30 August 2016, the initial earthquake was followed by at least 2,500 aftershocks.
After that,  I decided to create 24 August 2016, a short piece of animation, which shows what happened that night in order to remember it and commemorate the victims.

I started collecting some images of the aftermath of the quake, as reference for sketches that shaped the storyboard which would become a guide for my piece.
I modelled all objects and set up the cameras in the scenes. I set out to design an illustrative style with subtle lights to convey the night environment. Then I added a touch of glow and flares in post-production.
The font used is called Gotham.

Tools used: Cinema4D, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator.
