During my mind map process I reflected upon myself as well as my interests. The positive and negative. I was unsure whether I wanted to settle with a concept or just a word that meant something to me. 'Splendor' encompasses an aesthetic interest as well as an overall mood to me. It calls upon a certain feeling. I decided on that.

Experimenting with serif versus sans serif font
I know I want to keep the font simplistic and incorporate gold along with pure black text.

I am battling with myself between serif/sans-serif and caps/lowercase. Caps looks somewhat gaudy. Serfis look a bit too rich.

Half-serif proved to be even gaudier than full serif. I'm beginning to like the serif fonts more-- so long as it is executed well, the serifs do not have to be "too much" as I am constantly telling myself they are. Sans serif is proving to convey too modern a feeling. As are the harsh right angles.
I also believe caps did end up being too gaudy. Odds are I will continue forward with a lowercase font.

More messing around- I decided to go with a lowercase font, afterall. I wanted the text to retain a handwritten feel, so I tried to push that.
