PIXEL NINJA CREATIVE
This project began with researching various local, national and international design studios - including dedicated sports design studios - in order to gain valuable insight into how their identities are formed, what makes them unique, and how Pixel Ninja Creative could possibly differentiate from them.
With the design objectives in place, an interesting idea emerged during the concept stage. "What if the logo drew its inspiration from a sports club rather than a design studio?" That idea changed everything.
The new brand identity makes use of elements commonly associated with team sports logos such as the mascot, the two-line wordmark and the art style while also providing a few references to traditional and modern Japanese culture.
Pivot, the typeface created for this identity, consists of three fonts and is the first to be designed in-house. It was inspired by the red Shinto gates known as Torii and could be best described as an athletic pixel font.
The new website was given a refresh, making use of the updated supporting brand elements such as Japanese patterns and crests (kamon).
