Monza GP • Set up

Set up: Exhibition for Monza Gran Prix - Trento and Trieste square, Monza (Italy)
Year: 2014
Client: City of Monza
Team: dsb-Landscape architecture studio, Arch. M. Genghini
Role: Collaboration for concept design, set-up, drawings

In the heart of the city, we have designed a temporary set-up to integrate the world famous automobile event of Formula 1, expanding it beyond the racing circuit itself. Starting with the theme of Formula 1, we have developed the concept that has as subject energy.
Energy as a driving force in the lives of men and the ecosystem. We’ve wanted to represent alternative energy: biodynamic, clean energy and transformation.
Biodynamic agriculture is a type of cultivation based on a deep bond with nature, full respect for its rhythms and the transformation of its products. Growth market, it is aimed at the production of quality food, in total respect for the environment. We have expressed it with sunflower seedlings, a plant symbol of movement and from which many useful products are made for human health.
Clean energy: wind energy and energy generated by movement; both aimed to reduce pollution and respect the environment.
We have set up swings, surmounted by big pinwheels to represent the oscillatory and wind movement.
The equipment used is made of reusable items: swing seat covers are recycled tires. We’ve painted them for the exhibition. The colors were chosen based on the classification of tires on the racetrack (soft, supersoft, intermediate, wet).
The swing structure has been mounted with scaffolding poles and the overhanging wheels are made of recycled plastic.
The plan drawing of set up is designed representing circular water forms. Water, as the element which is primary source of energy in the life of living beings.
