Lettere in Gioco - The Book

Lettere in Gioco

Lettere in Gioco is the master thesis project I made for Politecnico di Milano, it consists of a serious videogame as a support tool for education, pedagogy and rehabilitation for children with dyslexia.

The book describes the reading disorder and analyzes the main difficulties and most common excercises for children with dyslexia, exploring some studies that proved the involvement of visual attention besides the more known phono-graphological issue. The thesis also explores the current italian situation, as dyslexia was recognized by the italian law - together with other disorders - as a specific learning disorder just in 2010.

The final project consists of an educational videogame as a more engaging tool of rehabilitation. The game offers different mini-games focused on phono-graphological excercices. It consists on a support tool for the therapist, who can set the difficulty levels remotely depending on the personal needs of the young patient. In this way the child has custom features and can play the games independently of the therapist. Furthermore, the gathering of data of all the game sessions allows the therapist to monitor the course of therapy and have an updated feedback on the improvements or difficulties of the child.
