De profil

In an era of self portraits, selfies and other ego dedicated photography on social medias, I asked my self if it was possible to catch someone's authentic portrait.
"As long as you look at yourself in the mirror each day, you don't see your profile"

The wetplate collodion process( an old technique from the 1850's) was used to take portraits "de profil" of volunteers, people met in the street...Portraits are done on a 8x10 glass plate which is unique. The sitter had to stay perfectly still for a few seconds to avoid any motion blur.
