TritonWear Illustrations

TritonWear is a swimming wearable that lets swimmers and coaches track their stats in real-time during practice, and over time to see progress.
While working on their website redesign, we realized we needed new imagery to show the capabilities of the system. The photos we had in our image bank were good, but didn't fully convey the emotional impact that we needed.

I researched illustration styles online (Cub Studio's Dribbble account is #goals), brainstormed options, and created a visual style that remained consistent with our existing branding while being flexible enough to work in many use cases.

Here's what came out of this exercise:
The old way to train: manual data collection with stopwatches, coaches giving general feedback that wasn't targeted to the individual athletes, which led to athletes that were more easily discouraged and demotivated.
The following three images were kept monochromatic and dull, to visually show that the old way is broken.
The images that followed the "old way to train" images were bright, hopeful, and full of life. They demonstrate the benefits of the system and show the human side of the technology.

For consistency, coaches always wore green, while the athlete attire changed depending on the situation and contrast level.
Encourage your athletes when they hit their goals!
