Rudolf was developed at The IUAV University
of Venice in 2015. The project aims to help children
with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) in a fun way,
both at school and at home.

Mascot
To make the project coordinated and entertaining,
a figure was created to represent it: Rudolf the octopus.
Children with SLD must learn to juggle numbers and
letters despite their difficulties and each one of them
is unique, like Rudolf
: the favorite christmas reindeer
chosen for its diversity, an unusual luminous red nose.
The choice mascot has fallen upon the octopus because
of its remarkable intelligence and its ability to adapt.
Rudolf a casa
This set is designed to help children in their
home environment in a fun and interactive way.
It consists of three artifacts: an ABC Book,
a Numerary and a Card Game.

Numerary
This book was designed to help children
to memorize numbers by the use of images
forms and senses.

Card Game
A game in where the number should be associated
with quantity represented by dots. If the number
corresponds to the quantity then the back side of
both cards will create a single image.
ABC Book
A book in which any letter of the alphabet is
related to the name and a form of an object.
Rudolf a scuola
This set is designed to help teachers deal with dyslexia
on an educational level
. It consists of: a general manual
containing guidelines, reference laws, preventive attitudes
and compensatory instruments, and three different tests
to be given to students to analyze their skills informally.
The Tests are of three types and must be administered
using the methods indicated in the respective Manuals.
Typography
The font chosen for the project is the Bianconero,
a high–readable typographic font of Biancoenero
Edizioni
available for free for non–commercial use.
It was designed by graphic designers Riccardo Lorusso
and Umberto Mischi, with the advice of cognitive
psychologist Alessandra Finzi, the expert in learning
methods in learning disabilities Daniele Zanoni and
designer Luciano Perondi.
