Pitcher and Cup Set
When I was designing the Pitcher and Cup Set, I wanted to explore the positive and negative surface of the form. The negative surface of the pitcher and cup wraps around the form and transitions into the positive surface on the other side of the form. Though the expression of line and form, I intended to create the sense of volume in an elegant way.
The spout of the pitcher was designed to pour liquid without dripping.
Positive model of the pitcher was sculpted in clay.
With the clay positive, I made a two part plaster mold for slip casting.
Positive model of cup was also sculpted in clay.
To avoid undercuts when removing the casting out of the plaster mold, I made a four part mold for the cup.
