Keagan Hoffman's profile

WIRED magazine, August 2017.

Brief: Create the monthly issue for WIRED magazine for August 2017.

Concept: Since WIRED's redesign, each issue consists of vivid, elaborate, and expressive imagery, consisting of photography and illustration alike. I wanted to create an issue that stands out when compared to the others. In order to do so, I needed to go against the grain and remove one important factor that makes the others so distinct (therefore making this one distinct), and that was to remove colour from the magazine. The front cover reads, in the first section: "President Trump. Fake News. Cyber crime. Cryptocurrencies. Smart - everything. ISIS. Brexit. Virtual Reality. Artificial Intelligence. Global warming. The refugee crisis. Zika. Gun violence. Racial tension. Trade wars. Nuclear war threats. Governmental coupes". Then the second section reads: "The world is so overwhelming nowadays, it might be a good idea to take a step back, reflect, and try see everything in black & white". Lastly, the final smaller section reads "The black, and white, special edition". Everything in the magazine is in black and white, from the advertising to the content within the articles.
