The Inside Word was a live brief where I was to create a visual identity for the client, which was to portray mixing asian and kiwi culture together. My work was one of the 2 chosen from a competition of 15, to move forward to the final round. I have also included a reference letter from the experience.

Here is my final design of the logo and branding:
Bringing Asian and Kiwi culture together, the idea was inspired by the Godwit/Kuaka which symbolises migration, the bird flies between New Zealand and the yellow sea. The pounamu/green stone are both used in asian and maori culture, both of strong meaning and history. These symbols are what connect asian and kiwi culture.
Branding
To Whom It May Concern,
Shevonee was a student of mine in Semester 1, 2017 in the subject Applied Creative Strategies at AUT.
She performed at a consistently high standard throughout applying herself to every lecture and assessment piece.

During the term my class received a ‘live’ brief from a ‘live’ client – The Inside Word. Their job was to create a visual identity for this client, from scratch, and apply it across numerous mediums.

In a competitive pitch to the client Shevonee’s work was chosen as one of 2 to move forward to the
final round. Her pitch was strategically robust and insightful resulting in a creative design that was
compelling and unique. The clients deliberated for weeks over the final outcome and although they
ultimately did not move forward with Shevonee’s it was a very difficult decision for them.

Shevonee demonstrated a very mature approach to this live brief situation and I personally was very
proud with how she handled herself and the work she created.
I have no hesitation in recommending Shevonee, she will be a talented and strategically insightful
creative designer.
With Kind Regards,
