For my imagined world I decided to create a literal world where human sized fruit roam instead of humans. I wanted to create something curious, funny and strange among a real world setting. I was initially inspired photo's of fruit that had human like features online. For this particular image collection, each image focuses on a crime boss banana. Each of the images is edited to match the tone of a mafia movie where there is a lot of warm light and overall dark overtone. The color of the image series was probably the hardest part of the images.

Each image was captured at 2.2 aperture, 320 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 5 shutter speed on an iPhone 5. Programs used to develop these images were on Adobe Ai (illustrator) and Adobe Ps (Photoshop). Below all of the pictures are the original photo's taken.
The Busina-Man
Lastly I wanted show the crime boss overlooking work at his desk.

The only real challenge with this photo was making sure the banana man was sat in the chair.
Facing his Demonanas
For this image I wanted to capture the sad aspects of being a crime boss.

A challenge with this photo was making the mirror image and creating that sense of perspective.
Two Pears
This image shows the boss playing poker among like minded individuals, who are also fruit. For this photo I just wanted re-create the stereotypical mafia poker image.

The challenge with this photo was making sure each fruit didn't overlap chairs or the table.
Banana Brood
For this image I wanted to capture the mental tones of being a crime boss.

The editing of this photo was also relatively easy. A challenge with this photo was re-creating the sky to give a darker overall feel.
Banafia Boss
The goal with this image was to set the tone of who the banafia man is. I like how curious this image is which sets up the rest of the photo's to come.

The editing of this photo was fairly easy. The only real challenge was removing the fruit from the original image and creating the shadows to match.

A Pattern by me
A pattern made by me. The image was made with Adobe Ai (illustrator).

The aim of this image was to create an appealing mathematical pattern. I wanted to use a red I liked and then matched a blue to contrast the pattern.

I am extremely happy with how this turned out. The biggest challenge was making sure everything was measured correctly. A difficulty with this photo was the amount of time spent producing the image.
A Pattern from Nature
A photograph of a tree leaf.

The image was captured at 2.2 aperture, 40 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 5 shutter speed on an iPhone 5.

The aim of this image was to capture a natural pattern. The focus of this image are the converging lines of the leaf. The overall look follows a pattern which is really intriguing.

The photo turned out really well as it is such a fascinating pattern. The difficulty with this photo was finding the right pattern in nature.
Man-made texture
A photograph of a fluffy rug.

The image was captured at 2.2 aperture, 40 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 5 shutter speed on an iPhone 5.

I really enjoyed finding a man-made texture so decided to add this one as well. This is of a rug up-close. This one looked like it could be a field of white wheat or something similar which I thought was really cool.

I'm happy with how this photo turned out as well. Once again the only difficulty was trying to focus the camera properly as I still had large amounts of blurring.
A photograph of a bath mat.

The image was captured at 2.2 aperture, 160 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 5 shutter speed on an iPhone 5.

The aim of this image was to capture a man-made texture. The picture above shows a bath mat from up-close. I thought it looked really peculiar and weird.

I'm really happy with how this photo turned out as it is such an interesting texture up-close. The only difficulty was again, trying to focus the camera properly, but I still had large amounts of blurring.
A Natural Texture
A photograph of several pebbles.

The image was captured at 2.2 aperture, 32 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 8 shutter speed on an iPhone 5.

The aim of this image was to capture a natural texture. Unfortunately due to my camera limitations, I wasn't able to capture extremely small textures. However after a bit of exploring I came across these pebbles which thought would make a really good photo. The picture shows irrational edges and smooth surfaces of rocks laid out which made for a unique image.

The photo itself turned out well and looks interesting from ground view. The problem with this photo was finding the right texture and also getting the camera to focus properly.

Little Rest
This image is a scaled photograph.

The image was captured at 2.2 aperture, 64 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 5 shutter speed on an iPhone 5. A figure toy and fire alarm was used to create this image.

The aim of this photo was to capture a realistic looking photo using small scale props. The focus of this image was to imitate a women sitting on a bench. I was motivated to try this image when I saw the potential of using a real bench and scaling the woman up to sit on it.

I'm somewhat happy with how this photo turned out. The issues I had with taking this photo was my original idea of holding the toy close to the camera and capturing the bench in the distance as though toy was life sized and sitting down. However due to camera limitations I wasn't able to capture the depth of field which included all objects clearly. I ended up using a fire alarm which I thought looked like an interesting bench of sorts.
Desert Travel
This image is a scaled photograph.

The image was captured at 2.2 aperture, 320 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 5 shutter speed on an iPhone 5. A set of stairs, paper, toy car and three pebbles were used to create this image.

The aim of this photo was to capture a realistic looking photo using small scale props. The focus of this image was to imitate a car travelling along a highway desert. Focus is brought to the car that's travelling, while the camera angle makes the stairs look road like and background props are used to help the visual outcome. I was motivated to try this image when I saw the stairs.

I'm extremely happy with how this photo turned out and feel as though at first glance, it looks like a normal travelling car. The issues I had with taking this photo was nature of my iPhone's focus setting that wouldn't focus on the car, and also finding the right angle to capture the image.
Bottle Fountain
This image is a long exposure photo of light coming from a bottle.

The image was captured at 100 ISO speed, 18 mm focal length and 15 s exposure time on a Canon EOS 700D. The image was produced with 2 phone torch's, paper and a drink bottle in front of a black seat to make sure no light reflected around the bottle.

The aim of this photo was to imitate a water fountain of light coming out of a drink bottle. The motivation of this photo was to create an abstract and interesting image using light with long exposure. The other focus of this exercise was to experiment with various camera settings to create the desired effect.

This image turned out really good for the effect I was going for. Initially this image was hard to capture due surrounding objects reflecting light which took the focus away from the bottle, severe light from the torch which would illuminate the entire area and when I stood still which would capture me in the image.
Person
This image is a long exposure photo of light coming from a bottle.

The image was captured at 100 ISO speed, 25 mm focal length and 30 s exposure time on a Canon EOS 700D. The image was produced with a phone torch.

The aim of this photo was to outline my body and create a human shape in light. The motivation of this photo was to create an interesting image using light with long exposure. The other focus of this exercise was to experiment with various camera settings to create the desired effect.

This image turned out okay but not great. The trouble I had with this photo was that I had to stand still for too long which caught me in the image, uneven lines when outlining my body and the long light exposure when switching hands for the phone. However despite the negatives I think it's an interesting photo.
Lightcycle
This image is a long exposure photo of light coming from a bottle.

The image was captured at 100 ISO speed, 25 mm focal length and 13 s exposure time on a Canon EOS 700D. The image was produced with a phone torch.

The aim of this photo was to draw out a bicycle in light. The motivation of this photo was to create an interesting image using light with long exposure. The other focus of this exercise was to experiment with various camera settings to create the desired effect.

This image turned out pretty well considering I only had a limited amount of time. The only trouble I had with this photo was when I stood still for too long which would capture me in the image and also forgetting where I was on the drawing.

Marble?
This photograph was captured at 2.3 aperture, 250 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 5 shutter speed on an iPhone 5.

The theme of this photo was to take photo's that look like something else. This image is actually melted chocolate and vanilla ice-cream. I thought that the melted dessert resembled marble or tile and decided to capture it.

This photo turned out interesting and really questions the viewer as to what it is.

A big challenge I found with this weeks theme, was actually finding objects, things, animals etc that looked out of place or as something else. Out of all the weeks themes this has definitely been my least favorite, and as consequence I unmotivated myself which is why I think that my photos have lacked any real flair compared to other weeks.
Happy Loo
This photograph was captured at 2.3 aperture, 250 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 4.64 shutter speed on an iPhone 5.

The theme of this photo was to take photo's that look like something else. For this image the loo looks like it's super happy to see me, I thought this was pretty funny and had to take a snap.

This photo turned out pretty well.
Dancing WiFi Extender
This photograph was captured at 2.3 aperture, 320 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 4.64 shutter speed on an iPhone 5.

The theme of this photo was to take photo's that look like something else. For this image my WiFi extender looked as though it was waving it's 'arms' about so I decided to snap this pick. I added the extra limbs and eyes to further exemplify this theme.

There wasn't any real challenges with the photo and I think it turned out alright.
Annoyed Bed
This photograph was captured at 2.3 aperture, 250 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 5 shutter speed on an iPhone 5.

The theme of this photo was to take photo's that look like something else. For this image the bed looks as though it is angry to have stuff piled on top of it. The drawers in the image personify the bed which prompted me to take the picture.

This photo turned out pretty well, the only problem is that the picture may not be initially clear.

Image of the Sky
This image is a photograph of the sky.

The image was captured at 2.3 aperture, 250 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 4.3 shutter speed on an iPhone 5. The image was taken at 6pm AEST.

The theme of this photo was take something interesting that I see in the sky and capture it. I found this particular image interesting as it shows the contrast in color from blue to orange as the sun sets. I also wanted to include the silhouettes of the palm trees as they give a very tropical and appealing effect.

I think that this was the best photo out of the ones I took as it the most interesting and aesthetically pleasing.
A Game Diagram
The image is a diagram that was created on Adobe Ai (illustrator) and Adobe Ps (photoshop).

This image follows the rules to the game Wall Ball. Wall Ball is a children's game that I use to play back in grade three. I wanted to create a diagram of this game as it was one of/if not my favorite game at the time despite how simple it is. I also decided to create the image on the selected programs as diagrams need be clear, simple and visually engaging. I chose this style as it is similar to graffiti on walls and is aesthetically appealing.

I enjoyed creating this diagram as I found it easy to put together, from knowing the rules so well. The only challenge was how time consuming the actual image became, from finding just the right fonts and image resources. However i'm happy how it turned out in the end.
Childhood Treats
The image is an illustration of my childhood treats. The image was constructed with 2B pencil and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

These drawings are some of my favorite treat brands that I had when I was kid. I liked these logos especially as they catch your eye, I was motivated to draw these as I wanted to find out how accurately I can re-create these vector perfect logo's by free hand sketching.

This task ended up being quite difficult, as you can only have some much graphical accuracy when only using a pencil as a tool. I found out that using guide lines helped out a lot in crafting the logos. This can be seen as each one gets progressively more accurate, starting from the Moro to ending with Coke. The actual logos
A Drawing from Memory
The image is a drawing from memory. The image was constructed with 2B pencil and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

This drawing is from the jetty at Resolution Bay, Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand. Growing up in NZ, I always use to go to this place to stay for New Years, for me personally it's a place that a grew up seeing and became so use to, that the image is imprinted in my mind. I was motivated to draw this as it's a place that for me, that represents joy and adventure.

I really enjoyed re-creating this memory, but it's always challenging to remember specific details, and because of this I kept it very simple. An actual image of the jetty is pictured in the bottom right of the illustration.

Fireworks
The image is a trace from my drawing. The image was constructed with 2B pencil, traced with fine point sharpie and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

Finally the last image had to be the fireworks after the show. I drew this image because the dancing of light in the sky is something really special which you can't see everyday. The illumination from the fireworks really topped off my day and made my night.

I enjoyed drawing this image, and didn't find any difficulties with it.
The Show
The image is a trace from my drawing. The image was constructed with 2B pencil, traced with fine point sharpie and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

Coming into night time, this image represents the Ekka show. I thought the cars were awesome at the time as they were racing around and doing stunts. It was also packed in the arena area, but worth the watch. I drew this image as this is one of, if not the main attraction at the Ekka.

I enjoyed drawing this image, and didn't really find any difficulties apart from maybe some of the crowd heads.
Festival Novelties
The image is a trace from my drawing. The image was constructed with 2B pencil, traced with fine point sharpie and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

This image is part of the many store attractions you can go to, where you can place a ping pong balls in the clowns mouth and depending on where the ball lands, you get a prize. I drew this memory as it was my favorite to go to, even though it was mostly down to luck, it just reminds me of festivities and fun.

I distinctly remember these clowns which made it easy to illustrate. I found that drawing them as they get further away was a bit challenging.
The Entrance
The image is a trace from my drawing. The image was constructed with 2B pencil, traced with fine point sharpie and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

This image is the entrance to the Ekka and I distinctly remember how big it is as you are waiting to go through the entrance. I chose to draw this because you know exactly what the pictures about, and that's going to Ekka.

This drawing was easier from memory as the sign is pretty defined in its shape.
The Rides
The image is a trace from my drawing. The image was constructed with 2B pencil, traced with fine point sharpie and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

Unfortunately as I wasn't able to attend the Ekka for this weeks theme as I was at friends birthday day pub crawl, I had originally documented my day as an abstract continuous drawing (as shown below). However I found that it was hard to see that it was documented imagery and so then I decided to redo this weeks images, and instead draw the Ekka from memory.

This image in particular is a depiction of the several rides at the Ekka, and I decided to draw this as it is one of the main features that resonates with me. Representing the excitement and thrill of Ekka day.

I found that drawing from memory was a little frustrating as it was hard to remember specific details, and conveying the experience I've previously had on Ekka was difficult. Drawing in perspective was quite challenging for this one.

An Illustrated Self Portrait
The image is an example of a no look drawing self portrait. The image was constructed with 2B pencil, outlined in 0.4 ink pen and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi

The aim was to create a portrait of myself without looking at the paper but at a webcam of myself. My motivation for this illustration was to create an interesting portrait which doesn't necessarily highlight my skills as natural illustrator, but instead creates a unique picture of myself.

I feel as though this illustration was really successful. It was really positive to not look at the paper as you don't have the time to doubt your skills or aim for perfection. In saying that, it became quite challenging not to look down and check my image, however it is worth it to see the final drawing.
A Self Portrait
This image is a photograph self-portrait.

The image was captured at 2.5 aperture, 100 ISO speed, 2.15 focal length and 5 shutter speed on an iPhone 5 under a ten second timer. 2 lamps were used get as much lighting as possible. The image was touched up on Adobe Photoshop.

Unlike the previous photographs, this image was to purely suck out as much shadows as possible and highlight only the main facial features.

The desired effect worked okay, again it was very challenging to create the desired lighting with little equipment. I tried to use as much lighting as possible. I found that timing the photo became difficult and frustrating at times too.
A ROOMMATE
This image is a photograph portrait.

The image was captured at 2.2 aperture, 250 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 4.9 shutter speed on an iPhone 5. 2 lamps (one in front and one below chin) and camera flash were used get as much lighting as possible. The image was touched up on Adobe Photoshop.

The desired effect was to get a Butterfly lighting portrait, where a small butterfly shadow under the persons nose is captured. The motivation of this image was to re-create industry standard photograph techniques, and to highlight the persons chin and cheeks.

The desired effect didn't really work that well, it was very challenging to create the desired lighting with little equipment, especially creating the desired shadow. I tried to use as much lighting as possible to imitate the butterfly effect.
A Classmate
This image is a Black and White photograph portrait.

The image was captured at 2.2 aperture, 32 ISO speed, 4.15 focal length and 8.4 shutter speed on an iPhone 5. Lighting equipment was used to get desired shadows, reflective mirrors were also used to create the necessary lighting on the right. The image was touched up on Adobe Photoshop.

The desired effect was to get a Rembrandt lighting portrait, where a small triangle light on the persons cheek is captured. The motivation of this image was to re-create industry standard photograph techniques.

The desired effect of this image worked well, it was more challenging to create the desired lighting, especially creating the triangle light shape. Communication regarding reflective and lighting set up made this photo's process easier to complete.
A Stranger
This image is a Black and White photograph portrait.

The image was captured at 2.2 aperture, 40 ISO speed, 40 focal length and 6.6 shutter speed on an iPhone 5. Lighting equipment was used to get desired shadows, an object that didn't reflect light was also used to create the darkness on the right. The image was touched up on Adobe Photoshop.

The desired effect was to get a split lighting portrait, where one half the persons face is captured in the light and the other half in the dark. The motivation of this image was to re-create industry standard photograph techniques, and to radiate masculinity and brooding atmosphere.

The desired effect worked well, it was challenging to create the desired lighting, especially the dark sections. I think the combination of people helping each other and light positioning made this photo relatively easy.

Apple Decay #5
The image is a drawing. The image was constructed with 2B pencil under a lamp light in the same position untouched and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

Here is the final drawing of the apple core on the fifth day. Extreme discoloration has occurred and the size of the core is miniature in comparison to the original core. The strength of the core has withered completely, and has began to look rotten.

I found this drawing a bit strange, as it was a major change from the original images and previous day. I feel as though I wasn't able to fully express the look of the core in this drawing, however overall I've become more comfortable with my skills.
Apple Decay #4
The image is a drawing. The image was constructed with 2B pencil under a lamp light in the same position untouched and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

Continuing with the apple core this is the forth day. Major discoloration is occurring and the size of the core is shrinking. It's incredibly interesting to observe the decay.

It is becoming increasingly easier to depict the change of the apple's colour and shape.
Apple Decay #3
The image is a drawing. The image was constructed with 2B pencil under a lamp light in the same position untouched and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

Continuing with the apple core this is the third day. More discoloration and other signs of decay have occurred as well as the the core falling over. I wanted to leave it in this state as it shows the natural decay of the object

I am finding it a little easier to express the colour and shape.
Apple Decay #2
The image is a drawing. The image was constructed with 2B pencil under a lamp light in the same position untouched and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

Continuing with the apple core this is the second day. I've began to notice slight discoloration and other signs of decay in the shape of the core.

The apple was is still relatively easy to replicate and I am still able to show distinct features of the core apart however its a little difficult to express the colour I can see.
Apple Decay #1
The image is a drawing. The image was constructed with 2B pencil under a lamp light in the same position untouched and scanned through an epson printer at 300dpi.

As the topic for this weeks focus was the passing of time. I was initially confused as to what I could develop and observe over time. The initial concept I thought of creating was an object that was affected by the suns light at different times of the day, however this idea would have given a little to no change as I couldn't properly explore the light and contrast that the sun has on paper. My tutor helped me by directing me in using an apple core, as fruit have a natural decay over a short period of time.

This idea worked well and became the basis of my 5 images, the apple was somewhat easy to replicate and I was able to show distinct features of the core. I found this good to draw as the focus is drawn to a singular object on a blank background.
