This shoot “Excess”, has been inspired by Steven Meisel’s 2011 editorial shoot “waisted Luxury” for Italian Vogue . I believe the rich opulence expressed in the set creates an elegant vision of past glamour that relates to contemporary culture. It is my aim to create an environment that mimics these Meisel characteristics and provides a dynamic background for a new re engineered white shirt garment. Importantly i am inspired by the stylist Karl Templer’s work as creative director for Interview Magazine where
mood and atmosphere takes prime place amongst the editorial pages. Templer’s usage of cool overtones and blue lters creates contemporary pallet for photography and style relevant today.
“Excess”, even by name refers to opulence. With the use of multiple luxurious textures, objects, vibrant contrasting colours and clashing patterns, a decadent set has been created. Some of the set elements include: An 18th century style salon tub chair, patterned cushions, emerald and ivory geometric rug, mid green split bamboo glass topped console, copper side table and various vases and decorative pieces.

Arthaus is more about the personality of those coming together within this space than just the placing of furniture and objects purely for decorative value. We looked at modern minimalism as our muse and built a New York style loft interior that an artist or creator would use. Alternative to the idea that a home is built and furnished to live in with all its necessities, we have contrasted this with the contemporary concept of a multifunctional space. By doing so, we have painted the ideal consumer and persona for our loft as a working living artist or creative in which their home space has evolved from simply a place to live to a place to meet clients, friends, create and fill with any musings. We considered the sustainability of the interior largely since modern society is heavily focused on the repurposing of goods and any affects we may have on the environment. It was far more economical to design and build an area that was versatile; pictured is a living area but also an artists’ studio, home office, entertaining room and personal space.
EXOTICISM
The quality of being attractive or striking through being colourful or unusual. This approach to styling celebrates the “the charm of the unfamiliar.”

Jellus is an editorial photoshoot that plays on the quirks of the 60s and 70s, namely revolving around dinner parties and social settings involving food of the particular time period. We looked back to the time we so casually call vintage and took the rise of Americanised foods and pop culture as our building block. While candies, processed and packaged foods were the cornerstone of the retro era, our interest was sparked by the table set ups of jellies filled with unexpected foods like prawns and other condiments. From this inspiration, Jellus grew as a weird and wonderful concept using jellies in a clash of colours and assortments, irregular sized tableware to add dimension, and a hanging chandelier of coloured forks amidst the pastel and vibrant colour palette seen in the dining space. The interaction between the model and food was also pivotal in modernising the time period - we know the 60s and 70s was a time that moved through differing ideologies and gender roles so we used this to inform the expression of self we see in the images that include the model

PSYCHEDECO
IN COLLABORATION WITH
CREATIVE DIRECTORS TALIA TASKIN, AMBER OBRIEN
Psychedeco was largely inspired by the dark moodiness of the likes of the Great Gatsby film/book and also the syntheticism of the Psychotropical trend forecasted for Spring Summer 2018 by WGSN. It was really important that we referenced what was true to the genuine interior design aesthetic and societal elements often depicted in the Art Deco period; namely the strong geometric shapes and forms, and the highly glamorised Prohibition Era. The appropriation of the era is then seen in this shoot with the use of different textures, materials, neon hues used in props and lighting, the coloured liquids in bottles and the statement non conventional perspex bar. An underground meeting place, a vessel to surrealism.
