Process- "Deity of the Frozen Croc"

Behance.net
This piece was created for an upcoming art show at
Gallery Nucleus. It measures 5"X7." I used Arches
Watercolor paper, Graphite, Ink, Watercolor, and
Gouache.

A.
Sketchees and skethees....

B.
I chose the composition I wanted from
my first pile of sketches. Sketched my main
elements onto my watercolor sheet.

C.
Rendered in over my light sketch
marks. I usually use a light source
directly over my figures. It reads
well to the viewer and keeps
the image from becoming over
complicated..... in my opinion.

D.
Here, I started inking various elements
that were ready for it. There are always
different ways and tools I use to ink
but for this piece I chose Copic pens.
(fine tip and brush tip).

E.
Inking with technical pens are completed.

F.
In this step I apply layers of diluted ink
for the subtle shades of grey within the
shadows, throughout.

G.

.... and this is the part where I skip a bunch
of steps, and you say, "WTF! He just skipped a
million things!" Well, that's only because
during the process of watercoloring it's
difficult and time consuming to scan
wet paper.... I promise, next time,
to take photos :)

H.
Before I even apply any paint I
usually do a little color testing
in photoshop. I'm learning, though,
that I should also be doing this in the
same media that I'll be pianting in.....
learning from my mistakes.
EDIT:

I.
I fiddled with this a little more in Photoshop. Made color
adjustments and added a few little details here and there.
