The University of Idaho commissioned me to make a map of campus showing only buildings relating to auxiliary services (residences, parking, dining, etc.). I began with a series of concepts that I presented to them in the earliest stages of the project:
Once a concept was chosen (the last concept, directly above), I began rendering the buildings themselves. They varied greatly in every respect. These were all drawn on a tablet in Photoshop. The clarity and depth of color make tablet work my tool of choice.
With the building illustrations completed (a massive undertaking, as each drawing took anywhere from 5-8 hours), I compiled them into a single composition in an 11" x 17" space along with the street map and all the additional accessories and details. This is the final product.
