Ronseal Garden Paint rebrand and packaging

Innovative packaging, literature and POS for Ronseal’s Garden Paint range.
+59% sales increase in year 1
The brief for the Garden Colours Paint range was to appeal to the female audience. To reflect this we developed the range with a lighter, brighter look and feel in line with the market research and buying trends.
We proposed an oversized shade label for the tins, which was a first for Ronseal. These labels had two purposes, as well as showing the product colour they also featured bespoke lifestyle photography for each individual shade.

This was to demonstrate that Garden Colours can be used on many substrates, a clear USP over other competitor offerings. By having both the imagery and shade label in one, it meant that we could have just one generic base tin, saving Ronseal both cost and production time.
The range is broken down into five identifiable colour themes for which we created bespoke photography, including all 24 shades.
“Michon's redesign of our Garden Paint range and POS has played a massive role in delivering outstanding growth.

The revolutionary design using a new labelling approach to represent colour, gave us market leading stand off on shelf and sales performance to match, at +59% in its first year.

Our product moved from being 2nd best to our competitors to market leading.”

“We were working on a key NPD packaging project and while we knew what we didn’t want, we didn’t really know what we wanted, but we were happy to put our trust in Michon.

They designed some real stand out packaging that not only differentiated us in the market, it gave us superb presence on shelf and has been the driving force behind our sales growth in this category. We couldn’t be happier.”
