Brooklyn Nets Trade for Allen Crabbe

A graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Andrew Horun is a National Honor Society inductee whose extracurricular high school activities included soccer and wrestling. Aside from wrestling and other sports, Andrew "Drew" Horun is an avid fan of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Brooklyn Nets.

Mired in mediocrity for the past few seasons, the Nets have embraced a complete rebuild in which the team has shipped out older players in exchange for draft picks and younger players with promising potential. One young player the team hopes will thrive with greater responsibility is 25-year-old shooting guard Allen Crabbe.

Acquired from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Andrew Nicholson, Crabbe was originally selected 31st overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2013 NBA Draft but was traded to the Trail Blazers later in the draft in exchange for a pair of second-round picks. Crabbe played sparingly in his first two seasons in the league but enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2015-16, when he averaged 26 minutes, 10.3 points, and 2.7 rebounds per game. Those averages rose slightly in 2016-17, but the most promising figure was his three-point shooting percentage, which rose from 39 to 44 percent.
