Title Sequence—Picking Up The Pieces
During this motion design project, I was assigned a 4th year film student as a client and was faced with the task of designing the opening film titles for his/her graduate film. This gave me great experience of interacting with a live client on a one-on-one basis. Through regular contact and script analysis, I developed a visual language and a tone of voice that I felt was appropriate to the film. My particular film told the story of a single mother and her young son, struggling to make end’s meet. The climax of the film comes when the pair are evicted from their home and are left to pick up the pieces of their lives. Through the visual metaphor of torn paper, I hoped to convey the idea of something fragile, that could be broken or destroyed.
