I made natural soaps, from products from local farmers and used cooking oil. The goal was to be as sustainable as possible. In not using distant farms they cut transportation emissions. And in using used cooking oil, it solves one of NYC’s hidden problem. People pouring used cooking oil down the drain, causes major problems in the NYC pipes and sewers. Oils harden, and then clog the pipes; and also back up the flow in sewers when they build up. New York City Environmental Protection releases information on this subject, but it isn’t something that people think to look for hidden in their website. Food trucks in particular don’t have a disposal method for the oil besides the street drains. The packaging in 100% recycled and recyclable. If it were to be marketed, it would be sold in NYC Greenmarkets.
