PHOTOGRAPHY - CREATIVE THINKING - RESEARCH
These photographs are part of my research for the project 'Pretty Ugly'. My aim was to capture British brutalism in a different perspective using camera angles and creative thinking. These photographs would then be used for the branding and print design of 'Pretty Ugly' and to inspire the creation of my concrete ornaments.
I regularly experiment with these photographs in Photoshop and investigate how I can manipulate the colours, composition and angles to create a different point of view. Below are some examples of this work.
As part of my research into British post-war brutalism I visited the Barbican estate. Armed with my faithful Canon 6D I aimed to take abstract shots that show another perspective of the Barbican and show the harsh buildings in a more calm and serene manner. I spend a lot of my spare time editing and re-editing these photographs and has reminded me how important it is to know your subject matter before you photograph it.
