A third year class gave me an excuse to make a comic I'd wanted to make for a long time. Even though it was a semester-long project, I really worked on the character designs, because I want to do something longer with these characters down the track.
The project called for an "artist's book", where the book isn't just the form of presentation but part of the art itself. I wanted to make something that the reader naturally interacted with in reading the story, and researched map folding and comic posters to get an idea of what was out there.
I went with white-on-black in the end, because it looked super cool and gave this sense of depth I couldn't imagine achieving with colour.
Now I've found some local large format printers, I can't wait to have this comics to sell at zine fairs next year!
