Generation Y Housing

Another project based in Gloucester with the aim to provide an affordable housing for young people aged between 18-35.
The concept for the scheme is based on the fact that a high percentage of young people suffer from mental illness, and loneliness is a problem in that age group. Therefore the scheme offers four types of flats placed in three buildings linked by a community hub.
The core of the project is sustainability, understood by both social, and environmental sustainability. Hence, the project offers multiple public, and semi-public spaces to gather for inhabitants.
The environmental part of the sustainability is conveyed by prefabricated, cross-laminated timber structure of the buildings, roof gardens in each of the building, and rainwater harvesting system along with the grey water saving strategy; all to reduce costs of construction and use of the development.
