Alternative Futures - Post General Election 2017
Laura - Labour

After Labour winning majority in the 2017 General Election, Corbyn's promises of Socialism failed to live up to expectation, instead Britain was lead into a period of communist ideology. Britain reverted back to the seventies, with Corbyn making it law that everyone grew afros, wore flares and only listened to disco music. The image taps into the entrapment of the character, with her being on a record insinuating that she is stuck in a loop with the seventies chasing close behind. From the record needle spews a psychedelic pattern which is growing in the background, suggesting that seventies ideology is taking over.
Brian - Conservative

After a Conservative majority, Britain was lead into 'necessary austerity' in order to reduce the deficit. Theresa May made cuts everywhere she could, selling the NHS to major conglomerate companies. After a period a disease broke out which turned people into zombies, this along with distinct absence of feasible healthcare meant the outbreak quickly became an epidemic. The tone of this article was one of utter despair, an element portrayed within the image by the low fore-shortened perspective.
Alice - Hung Parliament

Closest to the actual outcome of the 2017 Election, this character profile took on a more somber and despondent tone. Alice lost all hope in the government, failing to see any way forward for Great Britain. Tapping into this despondency, the image is a visual metaphor alluding to the character turning the lights out on a hung parliament, ensuing a period of darkness and uncertainty.
Hamish - SNP

With SNP winning majority in the election, Nicola Sturgeon ensued plans to achieve Scottish independence. Successful in this, she managed to turn Great Britain in its entirety into Scotland, and achieved independence from the rest of the world. The concept behind the image adheres to the characters loneliness in this post election future, and his desire 'just to be human again'.
