Cosmos Pen is the English language special issue of Kosmoskynä, the magazine for writers of science fiction and fantasy, published by the Finnish Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association (FSFFWA). For this 2017 issue, published this time specially for the Worldcon Helsinki, I used my existing design for Kosmoskynä, redesigned in 2016.

I also did the majority of illustrations in this issue, including illustrations for short stories as well as articles. This is the first issue of Cosmos Pen or Kosmoskynä that is printed in full color. I introduced color moderately to the previously black-and-white design, letting the illustrations stand out as large concentrations of color.
Illustrations are mostly digital paintings made with Wacom Intuos and Photoshop. One exception, shown above third from the left, is a photomanipulation for which photo credit belongs to the wonderful Aimee Fitzgerald. I had the chance to get playful with hand-made headline typography as well (above left and below left).
