The ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) Reports
This is a sample illustrating what I (and you) can do with Microsoft Word. The report is about 180 pages and was layout entirely in Word with minor usage from Illustrator on the graphics.
Why Word! When you have a design project of this much complex, involving multiples parties, stakeholders, departments, hundreds of inputs, and countless revisions over the course of more than 1 years before it can be delivered, Word is the only choice.
Here, I did the primary layout, pre-defined typefaces and size, color palette, etc… then sent it off to collaborators. At the end of each revision, I would review and adjusted page flows, page breaks, then submitted to the Administrator.
