Assessment 1: Portfolio of Images
The passing of time…

1. Decaying Flower. #oneperday2017

Technique: HB Graphite Pencil, A3 paper
For this piece, I used a decaying flower as my object to show the passage of time, I also used a stippling effect and a grid drawing technique that was taught during the first lesion.

2. Decaying Corpse. #oneperday2017

Technique: Adobe Illustrator, Wacom drawing tablet
For this one, I used a Zombie as the focus to portray time as a zombie is just a living decaying corpse.

3. Eternal TV static. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
For this photograph, I drew inspiration for a Watsky song; Conversations, there was one set of lyrics that related to this week’s theme:

"so i'm thinking maybe death is like eternal tv static"

In this image I wanted portray maybe what death was like.

4. The Crystal Candle. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
I wanted to create an object that showed death and time, so used a Crystal Skull bottle as death and a candle the show time and how we get ever closer to death the more time runs.

5. A Clouded Decay. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
For this image, I create another what to show death but this time using coloured milk in water that slowly cover up the skull. I wanted this to represent death slowly covering up the victim until there was no more light.

Portraits.

1. Lilly dog. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
For this image, I wanted to take a good photo of my dog as she is the one I live with, the biggest problem I had with this image was actually my subject. I was not able to take the image unless she let me and this was the best one of the lot, so I wasn’t able to position her or anything.

2. A stranger. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
For this image, as a class we went into a dedicated room to play around with professional light. I wasn’t the photographer at this time but I wanted the element of surprise to be in the subject’s face so I snuck a sneaky photo when he didn’t know.

3. A classmate. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
For this we went as a class into a room and use professional lighting techniques to create this, we also turned off the lights to give more of a lighting effect.

4. Me Illustrated. #oneperday2017

Technique: Adobe Illustrator, Wacom tablet.
For this image I wanted to show my strengths of vector drawing in illustrator, I got a photo that I really liked and drew over the image using my Wacom tablet and pressurised brush.

5. Me. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
For this we went as a class into a room and use professional lighting techniques to create this, we also turned off the lights to give more of a lighting effect.
EKKA.

1. Money. #oneperday2017

Technique: Adobe Illustrator, Wacom tablet.
For this image, I wanted to show what the EKKA is like for me. I personally don’t go because it costs way too much just do anything there. You pay to get in, you pay to do rides and everything is overpriced when you get there.

2. Games. #oneperday2017

Technique: Adobe Illustrator, Wacom tablet.
This image represents the side show games at the EKKA, one of the popular games is the clown and ball game, you put the ball in the clown’s mouth and it falls into sections where you can get points.

3. Show bag. #oneperday2017

Technique: Adobe Illustrator, Wacom tablet.
This is a drawing of my most memorable show bag from the EKKA when I was a kid, I only every see Bertie Beetle chocolate at the EKKA so I thought it would be fitting to have them as the show bag I draw.

4. Food. #oneperday2017

Technique: Adobe Illustrator, Wacom tablet.
For this image, I wanted to show one of the most favourite types of food from the EKKA, the Dag wood Dog. I’m not sure what sits made from bit it’s probably all bad stuff, but it tastes good.

5. Pig. #oneperday2017

Technique: Adobe Illustrator, Wacom tablet.
At the EKKA, there is a lot of farm animals that are on show. People love getting close to the local farm animals, and kids love to go to the petting zoo parts where they can feed these animals.
Memories.

1. The Bush. #oneperday2017

Technique: Adobe Illustrator, Wacom tablet.
For my memory of a place from my childhood went straight to this bush that I use to be able you hide, it use to grow off the side of this wall so it had a huge space being the leaves.

2. Crash. #oneperday2017

Technique: HB Graphite Pencil, A3 paper
It took a while to come up with this game that I use to play, but I wanted to find a video game that I would play as a kid so I wanted to use the PS2 disk as that base or the ‘world’ and as Crash progresses he would vs boss to eventually save the girl.

3. M&M’s. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
I didn’t really have any treats as a teenager but when I had an exam for high school I would get some ‘study food’ but what I would really do was just watch Youtube and eat a M&M’s. I’m not sure how effective it was.

4. My Place. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
For my house that I live in I used my study as my focus as its where I spend most of my time, I have a decent set up with a monitor for my laptop and custom desk that I made myself.

5. Sky. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
For this image, we were told to take a photo of the sky in week 4 and at 5 pm I found the clouds interesting. What made me take the photo then was how the light broke through the clouds making and amazing lighting effect.
See that thing?

1. Waves. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera, Adobe Photoshop.
It took me a while to look at things differently but the first thing I saw was a wave in the paper towel at work, with a bit of a touch up in photoshop I could make it stand out more.

2. Duck or Croc? #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera, Rivet gun.
This is a bit of a stretch, but I went into my shed and was dedicated to find something and this was the best I could come up with. At first when I saw it I saw a duck but when I showed a friend they saw a duck so I leave it to the observer.

3. Heart of stone. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
I only found this one by mistake when I was moving, I remember giving this to my mum when I was little because I saw a heart and though of her. This one is the easiest to see in my set of images.

4. Mr. Stappler. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera, Adobe Photoshop.
So yeah… I felt like a kid when I saw this one and I know it is a bit of a stretch but this is something that I would do as a kid and pretend the stapler was a mouth.

5. Abs? #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera, Adobe Photoshop.
For this image, I wanted to be a bit comical and use bread rolls as my ‘abs’. I had this ideas because I make this joke at work all the time (I work at a bakery).
Light and Scale.

1. Dr Strange? #oneperday2017

Technique: Sony DLSR camera; ISO 100, Shutter 4”.

This personally one of my favourite Photos of the whole assignment, I invited friends around and we just tried a heap of things. For this image in particular we just used a burning palm leaf and span it around… we didn’t set anything else on fire.

2. Thinking with Portals. #oneperday2017

Technique: Sony DLSR camera; ISO 100, Shutter 4”.
For this image, we took inspiration from fire twirling but a bit of a home version. We got 2 chains and tied rages that were drenched with fuel, on the end of them and decided to spin in them in a circular shape

3. Riddle me this!? #oneperday2017

Technique: Sony DLSR camera; ISO 100, Shutter 4”.

This image is a bit different, on my property I have a shipping container as there made from metal, I decided I wanted to draw on the side with fuel and see how the exposure looked. This was my favorited one out of the lot.

4. Streaks. #oneperday2017

Technique: Sony DLSR camera; ISO 100, Shutter 4”.
This is quite a basic long exposure shot but again it was fun to take, I took it at about 11pm on a Saturday night and there weren’t too many cars going past so I had to merge 2 images to get traffic going both ways.

5. The spark to light the fire. #oneperday2017

Technique: Sony DLSR camera; ISO 100, Shutter 4”.
With this image, I brought back the palm leaf but this time instead of spinning it, I decided to hit on the ground to capture bounce from the sparks.
Patterns and Textures.

1. Leaf me alone! #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
This week we looked at patterns and textures, this image is my texture from nature. The texture is on the leaf itself, in the image you can see all the little veins and ripples that are created from the stem that branches outward.

2. Internals of the Piano. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
This is my texture created by man. This image shows the internals of an open piano, the texture is repeated across the whole piano but is slightly different across each key to make sure than each plays a different note.

3. Hand. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
This is my texture created by me. For this one I thought about things I had created and really nothing really has too much of texture so then I was left just looking at me and my skin, at first I wanted to just do my thumb but my phone wasn’t able to do that so I had settles with my hand, in the image you can clearly see the creases in my hand that have been made throughout my life.

4. Food. #oneperday2017

Technique: Adobe Illustrator.
This is my mathematical pattern created by me. This pattern was created during a tutorial when we followed along on how to create a mathematical pattern, it was really confusing to start with but after trying again and getting help I was able to understand what was going on.

5. Pattern of age. #oneperday2017

Technique: Iphone 7 Camera.
This is my pattern created by nature. This image is of a tree stump that has been cut down in front of my house, I’m not too sure how long it had been cut for but the rings that were created over time form an extraordinary pattern that would have taken years to create.
The Black Portal. #oneperday2017

Technique: Sony DLSR camera; ISO 100, Shutter 4”, Iphone 7 camera, Photoshop.
This is the creation of my own world. I used in total six images, mostly from my long exposure shots and a shot that I took at the start of the year in England on an extremely foggy day. I wanted to create a portal to another world, I wanted to construct a combination of the feelings, anxious and curiosity. This is created by the fear of what could beyond the portal but the curiosity of that too.
