Whilst walking around Muharraq’s Pearling Pathway you realize very little has altered through time. The streets and lanes are still bursting with fish sellers, carpenters, bakers, storeowners, children playing and local residence all going about their business.

I am sure if I had walked the same path when Muharraq was the nation’s capital and the centre of pearling, I would have met their ancestors playing similar roles.

I aged my images through applying scratches and damages and by altering the colors and tones of the originals. I have digitally mounted, framed each image and turned them into one picture to depict a collection of old photographs hung on a wall.

Although these images where shot recently for the CoLab show at Malja in Bahrain, I hope that at first glance the viewer feels they are looking at photographs taken years back and they themselves are taken back in time.
