Walkin’ after midnight is a photography collection by Taiwanese photographer Hsin-Tzu Liao, showcasing images taken during her nighttime strolls in Taipei and Keelung. This collection endeavors to convey the unique ambiance, lighting, and scenery of the night, immersing viewers in the photographer's nocturnal world. It reveals the charm of details often overlooked during daylight hours.

The design of this photography collection aims to offer viewers an immersive experience, inviting them to step into the photographer's visual realm. As viewers delicately retrieve the collection from a transparent ziplock bag and feel the woolen paper cover designed to evoke subtle sensations, they embark on a journey into a world of heightened sensory perception.

The images in the collection are meticulously organized based on the time of the photographer's nocturnal explorations, spanning from 10:30 PM to 4:00 AM. The locations covered include various districts in Taipei (include the East District, Jingmei, Shandao Temple, Taipei Main Station, Wanlong, Wufenpu, and Ximending) as well as Keelung. Each section commences with an image labeled with its name and the corresponding time. When the collection is completely sealed, these location markers align with the geometric patterns on the cover, creating a comprehensive geographical map that extends throughout the pages of the book. The geometric shapes on the cover represent the unique light patterns of these specific locations.

This photography collection is meticulously handcrafted to capture the nuanced sensations conveyed by the images. The processes include screen printing on the cover, embossed book titles, hand-sewn binding, and precision adhesive work. The images themselves are rendered with uPrinting technology to faithfully reproduce the intricate details of the night.
