Glass Books of the Dream Eaters
A self-initiated project to create a book jacket for The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters, by G. W. Dahlquist.
I wanted to create an image that draws the viewer in as they discover the hidden objects among the flowers, to reflect the mystery inherent in the novel.
Each of the objects is taken from the story and belongs to one of the characters; including Dr Svenson's monocle, Cardinal Chang's sunglasses, skeleton keys and knife, and Miss Temple's green boots.
Likewise, most of the flowers were chosen for their meanings and associations; apples and pomegranates for temptation/desire, lilies are associated with death thanks to their popularity at funerals, roses for love, and Monkshood meaning 'beware, a foe is near.'
