The rain paintings where created in just minutes using the rain and three tubes of Acrylic paint and one paint brush and the rain outside. The belief is simple. We trust what we have around us and also inside us to express and impress life in us and around us in those moments we create using what we have in our hands. The actual moments we create such a painting are only available at the time and place we find ourself in to create. Actual times and places never come to us more that once in our lifetime. If we can connect with these moments they will speak to us and communicate an encounter that is actual and can become memorable. What happens after this moment in a time and place has pasted, then all we have is the memory of what it was like to create something totally original.

In contrast with the drama of the moment we can then record it using a camera. This then becomes a digital record to be edited, cropped reviewed and improved, managed virtually and processed through a graphics programme like Adobe Illustrator using tools that are virtual pens aided by a computer. The very exactness of these tools then contrast with the ebb and flow of the natural world to create their own effects and contrasts now visible and refreshing to look at and enjoy. The eyes of the heart then view the effects and read them as they read you and me. We cooperate with these and develop our own understanding of what they are saying to us. Because we have a creative bent, the imagination steps onto the stage and performs with us and for us, as though the work stays alive. From all this comes creative encounters and we grow in understanding the dance with our eyes and even the eyes of our hearts. The only word we end up with to capture this moment again and remember the fun we had painting in the rain is " WOW! "

These were created fast to simply fill in spaces in a huge collaborative work called the Key of David being produced to show in Westminster London as part of the celebrations at the Olympic Games 2012. The moment called for three gaps to be filled in a very brief moment in time. Creativity flows at it's best sometimes when we only have minutes to think and then act. Some produce their very best work when very little thought goes into it and we just let nature take it's own improvised way to meet the need. Order will always have the last word and make sense of what looks like insanity left under a new management.

What I see and enjoy in such artwork will always be my own because I was there when the work arrived with a life of it's own. These are for me priceless works of nothing more than moments going after a glory only found in the father of all true creative moments when we choose to just go with the flow of the time and place we find ourself in there and then with the rain just wanting to help us.
