KUMIKO
The Gift from Japanese Craftsman & Designer
Would you like to give a unique Christmas gift this year?

This product “KUMIKO” is using one of the Japanese traditional technique called Kumiko which is almost forgotten in Japan.

“How might we keep the Japanese traditional technique “Kumiko” to the future generation?” It is our main motivation.

This time the Japanese designer and the craftsman are corroborated. And Kumiko was mixed with Danish culture and reborn as a window decoration, whose beauty is best resembled in the moment of Christmas gift giving.
“KUMIKO” is Made by Hands

Kumiko is a Japanese traditional wooden handcraft technique which has more than 1300 years history and originally it used for window slide panels. Each small part is cut and assembled by Takashi Hasegawa's hands. The high quality craftsmanships show the beauty of the product, made from natural Japanese cypress and assembled in Kanuma, located on the main island in Japan. However, kumiko is almost forgotten because of the changing our lifestyle. This time I named product “KUMIKO” to be remembered original technique name.
Gifts Pass Hands to Hands

The KUMIKO is a gift and it passed from a Japanese craftsman's and designer's hands to Danish customer's hands.
And this product and story will be passed other hands to hands. From gift giver’s hands to receiver’s hands. Also, when the customers will gift KUMIKO and tell the story of this technique to others, then it will help to hand this technique to the future generation's hand.
Pattern’s Meaning and Packaging Design

This traditional Japanese pattern has each meaning and these gifts “KUMIKO” are a satisfaction to the giver and the recipient in the knowing of an important wish and message.
“We sincerely hope that you will have a wonderful time with our products.”
