My final year illustration project "Zakura" Depicts the concept of Yin and Yang, Life and Death, Creation and Destruction across 3 main illustrations in the form of two album covers and a T-shirt Design.
As it was my final year i decided to go with a project that would test all my image making skills, such as photography, traditional and digital painting, photo manipulation and 3D(although 3D was unused as i am only a beginner and thought it would take away from the image)
The original idea came to be months before working on this project, it was originally a sketch concept for another bands album art, the idea wasnt suitable for them but the idea stuck in the back of my mind as i was lucky to be able to use it as a final year college project.

The requirements for this project were to create 3 separate images, to work as a collective an album cover, A single and one personal choice (In my case i chose A T-Shirt Design)
We also had to pick a band existing or made up, i made up a band based on several musicians such as Juno Reactor and Massive Attack, as my favourite music is Metal i decided to go with something outside my comfort zone and went with a Electronic / World Music Type band.

The Sixth Revilation - Sphongle

The idea behind the main album cover was of life, the model is made up of crystals and light and planets forming symbolising creation.

Album Artwork - The Demon Dance
The idea behind the single is the opposite of the album cover, it is of destruction and death, i wanted to avoid using direct stuff like skulls and bones, so instead i used crows feathers, fire and bare tree branches to symbolise death and destruction.

T-shirt design
Above: Final T-shirt Design, This Design was based on a mix of both the single and the album cover with elements of the crystals from the album and tree roots from the single
Below: Alternate T-Shirt Design these were not used as the images were too scary/heavy metal looking and didnt really fit in with the album covers.
Typography
I designed several logos, an rather than choosing one I used one for each album and one for the T-Shirt.
I also Designed Several pages of lyric's from songs that inspired the artwork(as seen above isolated from the artwork)
