Video on object
6 min 53 sec

A soap film is created around an object that is different from a natural phenomenon even though it seems to represent people's ideals and wishes. In the video, one bubble, or several bubbles, infinitely arises and dies, obstructing the gaze toward the object.
The object to speak is a fountain. I have been working on two points here.
The first is that the fountain, which is an object that rejects natural phenomena unlike the flowing river, makes people who look at it have a wish for his desires and ideals to be fulfilled. I have created a scene in which the fountain is covered with bubbles, which indicates that such a psychology is sometimes hidden in everyday life, even though it may have roused when there is an occasion.
The second is based on 'bubbles'. The bubble here is a medium that represents the personality of an individual. The bubbles swell up and suddenly pop up at some point, and the environment has a lot of influence. The Korean idiom, 'geopum(a bubble) chida', also means 'take cold air to get rid of bubbles'.
If you look at many things that come to mind like this 'bubble' material, it can be said that the bubble has the so-called obstacle nature that prevents me from trying to reach the ideal. It should not be too much, and it is a negative thing that should be 'rid of.'
In this work I have dealt with the human side and my personal side. I hope that what I'm about to show will come in a good way to those who appreciate the work.

< Possibility of Change >, 2017
Video on rotating windshield wiper
6 min 5 sec

I figured out that I had negative qualities, that is, trying to fit into someone else's standards, occasionally being a neat freak, and having fear of decisions. I defined this personality as "weakness".
As a series with 'Membrane', I decided to display the image in front of the object.
In the video, the smoke is waving, which is an ideological representation of my invisible personality. The smoke is fluttering in front of the object from the beginning to the end of the image.
Through this work, I expressed my effort to remove the floating smoke in the air, that is, to try to change my personality. Also, it expresses the difficulty of remarkably removing the property of weakness.
< Loop >, 2017
Streetlight, Round balls, LED light, thread
Variable size

Overall, I was working on a theme called 'Repeat'.
I was inspired by the novelist 'Kundera', which reads: Human time does not turn in a circle; it runs ahead in a straight line. That is why man cannot be happy: happiness is the longing for repetition.
'Loop' refers a structure, series, or process the end of which is connected to the beginning. I saw this infinite repetition as a condition of happiness. Streetlights symbolize positive happiness that illuminates a dark night. In this work, a streetlight expresses a rhythmical light repetition at regular intervals.
Objects in the glass are objects that obscure the happiness, which means a tired advancement that people seek in their lifetime. I have envisioned this work, noting that progress is not the ultimate goal of happiness, and I hope people who are tired of going forward will feel comfortable watching this work.
I want you to stop running ahead in a straight line for a while, and to feel happiness while looking at the time of the moments that are repeated in the loop of this work.
