In January 2016, I spent a couple of days in a hostel along the south coast of Wales for a cooperative, cross-disciplinary module at my university where we mixed with other students within the art school on a landscape project called “The Sublime”. Over two weeks, I created three outcomes based on the studies I made while on that trip.
This was in response to the early morning walks we would take along the beaches, where the sunlight would be very intense and direct, making it hard to take any sketches. I wanted to represent that obscurity by using using abstracted observations of the landscape alongside the ever-present light again the sea water.
Also while there, I took sketches of the cliff faces along the south coast, and later translated those sketches into monoprints, which later I turned into vectors on photoshop.
And lastly I did something similar, but I created monoprints from sketches I took through binoculars
