Lounge Area 5 / Interior

lounge area 5
The proposed conceptual design is for a recreation and social interaction area in the hallway on the 5th floor and the adjacent common spaces located in the building of the first corpus of New Bulgarian University, Sofia.
The renovation of the space is aimed at providing new and more comfortable places for students to rest, socialise and work on individual or group projects during and between lectures.
The university has several similar areas, but they are not enough for the large number of students. The space is very suitable for the purpose, with its high ceiling and large windows with a view of Vitosha mountain, creating a feeling of spaciousness,
The project is in geometric industrial style that blends perfectly with the building's overall appearance, but also brings coziness to it. The minimalism in furnishing highlights the shapes and materials of the building. The turquoise soft furniture serves as an accent, and contrasts to the surrounding monochrome colours, brightening the interior. The lamps hanging low from the ceiling additionally contribute to the industrial feeling.

Furniture
The only market available piece of furniture, a modification of which is used in the interior is the chair ( Modern Steel Stool with Walnut Seat” by PWHFurniture, USA). All other furniture are design solutions inspired by the the chair. The steel elements are present both in the tables and the lighting and at the base of the soft furniture, integrating visually the interior. The wooden elements in all the furniture are of the same material - solid birch.
