Fridge Concept
For the Electrolux Design Lab 2010
In the cities of 2050 time, space, energy and water will be our most precious and most valuable treasures.   The icecloud project offers you an opportunity to change your traditional energy demanding, noisy, big refrigerators to an intelligent, comfortable and environmentally friendly cooler appliance that use the natural cooling effect of water (passive cooling) and clay pots, a little amount of energy that it can produce itself and the humidity in the air. Passive or static cooling sytems are used in the third world and they were popular in the past when electricity was not available for everyone. In the deserts of Nigeria people use the zeer pot. The zeer contains two pots and between them water or watered sand. As the water escape from the system the inner pot cools down keeping the food fresh and cold. I adapted and improved this method with ventillators to make it even more efficent.
