Conversational User interface (chat bot)
Proposal on a "personal assistant" UI for a corporate mobile app.

Employees get their own personal assistant, that will help them with getting:
- Latest news
- Latest news
- Help them find employees based on 1) Name and/or 2) Skills
- Access to HR handbook information. Just ask a questions.
Why a chat bot/conversational UI?
Conversational UI (chat bots) are becoming more and more popular in the B2C, reaching out to customers where they already are (“~90% of our time on mobile is spent on email and messaging platforms. Niko Bonatsos, Managing Director at General Catalyst). But why not also use it to internally in the corporate, making it more fun and pleasant to look up information?
The problem with intranets are: They are not being used. Building a mobile intranet helps accessibility - but might not be enough to get employees to access information by themselves. You need a feature that gives actual value – in this case the proposal is being able to easily find people with certain skills, experience with specific clients or type of projects. You can build this as a more traditional user interface. But why might it be a good idea to invest in building a bot – or here actually three in the backend, being combined to one in the front-end:
By giving the bot a personality you can expand the company culture and deliver good to know information or just fun facts, while providing answers. Users are likely to become attached to the bot, which will increase usage/engangement - and information/news is more likely to be received and read. making it more engaging to find information, by building it as a conversation can decrease the amount of internal mails and phone calls to ie. HR. Finding people based on different search terms can increase knowledge sharing. And by having a two-way integration HR and Project managers can gather more data about employees skills, using this for team planning and hiring process. Search terms and data input can be used to continuously develop on and improve the solution. And much more...
