BREVES BANDEIRAS teve como ponto de partida as bandeiras de cidades, estados, nações e agremiações, sua função na vida cotidiana e os princípios que orientam sua criação. Pensá-las como uma plataforma visual para a criação nos parecia interessante pelo seu significado social, suas conotações culturais e pelo processo de criação e edição de suas formas.
Ao longo do processo, descobrimos que temos muito poucas certezas para enaltecer numa bandeira. Por isso bordar bandeiras efêmeras, ao contrário das bandeiras oficiais. Um exercício sobre restrições formais extremas na composição de cores, formas e símbolos e na representação de sensações abstratas e enigmáticas.
Breves Bandeiras had as its starting point the city, state and national flags, its functions in everyday life, and the principles that guided its creation. Drawing inspiration from them to create a visual platform seemed interesting to us due to their social meaning, cultural connotations, and the processes of creating and editing their forms.
Throughout the process, we discovered we had so few certain to praise in a flag. Therefore, ephemeral rather than official flags were sewn. This served as an exercise in extreme formal restrictions on color composition, symbols, forms and representations of abstract and enigmatic sensations.
BANDEIRA "FEBRE" A sutil diferença de vibrações entre os vermelhos configuram a palavra "febre" como uma miragem, um delírio. Esta anti-bandeira representa o estado de paixão, de exaltação e entusiasmo.
The subtle vibrational difference between the red colors evokes the word "fever" as a mirage, a delirium. This anti-flag represents the states of passion, exaltation and enthusiasm.
BANDEIRA "NUNCA DORMIR, NUNCA ACORDAR" Primeira a ser criada para a coleção, esta anti-bandeira investiga a representação de fronteira entre sonho e realidade, a sensação de torpor e vigília.
The first anti-flag to be created in the collection, it investigates the representation of the frontier between dreams and reality, the sensations of numbness and vigilance.
BANDEIRA "ÓCIO" O signo do anzol sobre a alvorada evoca a imagem do pescador artesanal como eixo trabalho vs. vida, ou tempo alienado vs. tempo próprio, em que as noções de produtividade estão sujeitas às necessidades de criação, investigação e felicidade do indivíduo. Esta anti-bandeira é uma celebração do ócio enquanto estado de abertura e reflexão, entendido aqui como o "gozo da liberdade".

BANDEIRA "QUASE" Em teoria, a palavra Brasil tem sua origem na cor avermelhada da madeira encontrada pelos primeiros colonizadores, o "pau-brasil", em alusão à cor da brasa. O pigmento de cor avermelhada extraído desta madeira era empregado no tingimento de tecidos, e foi vastamente explorado devido à sua valorização na Europa. Esta anti-bandeira é formada pelo desequilíbrio e pela conclusão da estrutura de uma bandeira pré-existente. Suas cores respeitam os três estágios da madeira: a vida, a brasa e a cinza. Em posição à cor verde, popularmente associada à esperança, a palavra QUASE evoca ideias de interrupção e incompletude.
In theory, the word "Brasil" has its origins in the reddish color of the wood found by the first colonizers, the "pau-brasil", in allusion to the color of its embers. The reddish pigment extracted from this wood was employed in fabric dyeing and was vastly exploited due to its appreciation in Europe. This anti-flag is formed by the imbalance and conclusion of the structure of a pre-existing flag. Its colors respect the three states of the wood: the life, the ember and the ash. Next to greenness, popularly associated with hope, the word "QUASE", which translates to "almost", evokes ideas of interruption and incompleteness.

The two geometric forms of this anti-flag balance each other by one single point of support. In search of the translation of the popular phrase "punch on a knife edge", this anti-flag is a metaphor for the unlikely triumph of persistence, conviction and faith.
BANDEIRA "TUDO VIBRA" Esta anti-bandeira representa a conexão entre o todo e suas partes. O ritmo da repetição de formas cria um espaço de tensão entre elas, onde as palavras parecem provocar uma desarmonia.
This anti-flag represents the connection between the whole and its parts. The forms of repetition and rhythm create a space of tension between them, where the words appear to provoke disharmony.
