Reconstructing The News: Roadkill

Reconstructing the News

Brief:

For this brief you are asked to create a feature article that fills a large double page spread, for a publication that focuses on communicating a specific news back-story to a readership. Data visualisation and diagrammatic display need to play a key role in explaining, clarifying complex matters to a reader.

Concept:

When choosing my topic I wanted to focus on something discrete and something no one really thinks about. Whilst on my journeys in the car I saw a lot of dead animals on the motorway, which then made me think how many animals get killed on the road. I proceeded to find a dataset/ website called project splatter which had deaths of animals of every motorway in the UK.

Finished spread visualising the amount of animals killed on the top 13 roads around the world and the main animal killed. Secondary data visualisation shows the type of animals killed.

Designed to be riso printed.
Thankyou for reading! Give it a like if you like what you see :)
