Portraits
Here's a bunch of examples of my editorial portraits with the linears & the published magazine page included. Hope you enjoy!

CONNOR OBERST - Rolling Stone - Art Director, Christine Bower
Iwanted to portray the singer/songwriters connection to folk/Americanamusic and his home Omaha, Nebraska. Hopefully the dreamy atmospherecomes across. I got to work with the lovely Christine Bower on this, and we went on to win a prize in Communication Arts!

LATIN CRIME BOSS, HECTOR MARROQUIN - LA Weekly - Art Director, Shelley Leopold
It was fun to get hired to draw such an intimidating character, especially when I had the opportunity to surround him with such fun 'artifacts'.

INDIGO GIRLS PORTRAIT - Atlanta Magazine - Art Director, Sheri Wilson
Here's a portrait of the American Folk Rock Duo, the Indigo Girls, consisting of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers. I wanted this piece to feel a bit whimisical, especially since their new album is called, "Poseidon and the Bitter Bug". I've also included the type design for the facing page, which didn't get used, but the layout looked great in the end.

MR. HUDSON - Nylon Guys Magazine - Art Director, Alexander Chow
Here's a portrait of the English pop singer, Mr. Hudson, who is signed to Kanye West's label. Thanks to Alex for giving me a fun portrait to work on! Who can complain about painting slick suits and lasers?
