This post shows images taken whilst exploring Silverdale Tunnel (decommissioned rail track) near to Keele Christmas Tree farm and Pepper Street along the Keele Bypass. The photos show our (myself and my son) journey from the old Keele platform, through the tunnel (also known as Half Mile Tunnel) leading to the Silverdale overpass road where the old track disappears and has been refashioned into a bike trail.
The image above is a representative assemblage of photographs of different elements and aspects of the landscape composed in one image. It is intended to show a composite memory of all of the different parts of the location in one image to best represent all the bits we saw ( ...a hoverfly, ragwort, redcurrants, Bindweed, Cottontops and lots of nettles....)
Just past the middle of the tunnel there was a really unusual bit where light formed a spotlight on the floor from a well/ drain /vent above in the roof of the tunnel- which can be seen from a field near Pepper street.
There a still lots of little remnants of the past dotted about the landscape waiting to be discovered.
