4 Months in Copenhagen

4 Months in Copenhagen

My spring semester of junior year, I studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark and studied graphic design. In Copenhagen, I focused my energy on developing my design, balancing a student budget in a very expensive city, and wearing more black, like the Danes. But mostly design. These are some of the fruits of my labor over those four, wonderful months.

Arne Jacobsen Poster
We were first assigned to create a Gestalt-inspired poster for an Arne Jacobsen event. I began with an assemblage of three Arne Jacobsen chairs, reflected to create a symmetrical pattern. I find the poster reminiscent of an ink blot test and hope each viewer sees something different within the pattern. The colors were picked from the new series of colors designed by Tal R for Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen in 2015.

Henrik Vibskov Visual Identity
Henrik Vibskov is a cross-disciplinary fashion designer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. However, to describe him as only a fashion designer does no justice to the musician, artist, stage designer, and global trendsetter he truly is. We met with Vibskov on Paper Island, and I was tasked with creating a new visual identity for his brand.
