"3D Costume Concept - Turin's Chainmail" sculpted and shaded in Zbrush.
This model was made for the character Turin Turambar in the artistic series I'm developing. After creating a clay sculpture, and an illustrated concept of the character aesthetics, armor and clothing, I started sculpting his garments in 3D to use for further animation. This model is only a part of his complete clothing. This is a "dwarvish" chain mail that he wears under his cloak. It consists of one single piece containing hard leather on the chest, sewed with softer leather on the apertures and metallic chain mail wrapping around the soft parts of the torso. This piece of his costume is not so detailed in J.R.R. Tolkien's books, as other assets, like his helmet or his sword. Based on this, I used my own illustrations as inspiration for the 3D model. Below, the images of the process and details are shown.
