People:
Course at Designschool Kolding, dept. of Industrial Design
Cooperation with music store 'Musikhuset Aage Jensen'
Exhibited at Kolding public Library and Designschool Kolding
Brief:
Design the next icon of a guitar and do a 1:1 model of the final design
Response:
I looked at the 'guitar' from two perspectives: the visual attitude of the instrument, and the physical and emotional relation between the musician and guitar.
Output:
The male torso was the main inspiration for my design. Contrasts between edges and curves refer to the contrast between muscles and skin of the body. The volume- and tone-buttons are inspired by the way the collarbone shows under the skin. Strings, threads and other technical parts are like silver jewelry on a naked body.
By using leather as main material I bring an organic feel to the product, but even more important the leather makes a living link between the skin of the musician and the guitar. When playing the guitar, body and instrument becomes one.
