Discovery
Discovery is a short stop-motion animation I made when a friend approached me whilst at University.
In my last year at the RSAMD we decided to challenge ourselves and thought animation would be the perfect test of our skills and patience.
The story originally started simple with a 2D drawn animation planned but as we continued our research the project grew until we had roped in a further four fellow students to the production. I was originally brought on as the Director of Photography but as the film evolved I took on the additional roles of co-writer, Producer and Director.
We made the film mainly as a challenge to ourselves because we could, but it managed to go on to screen at multiple film festivals across the UK including the British Animation Film Festival which is more than we ever expected.
It was a learning curve for all involved as no one had any kind of training within the medium and so was our first attempt at any kind of animation.
